SCRUM Project Management Workshop

Scholarship Foundation

Hannover, November 27th – 29th

This weekend about 50 scholarship students from universities of applied sciences across all branches came together at the Stephans-Stift in Hannover, Germany for a special seminar weekend.

Program

The highlight component of the seminar was the workshop we attended on the second day of seminars. I chose the workshop about “Agile Project Management with SCRUM” and was more than satisfied with my choice: After a quick introduction and some interesting insights into the scientific validity of this special project management technique judged by both economic returns and employee satisfaction rates, it was our turn to apply the guideline procedure to an own case project.

The result amazed me: Within just half an hour of constructive work, following the planning-prototyping-feedback-meeting-procedure within two sprints, my team and me pulled together a cut and animated instructional video that could explain the essence of SCRUM to our fellow colleagues.

Networking

But what was at least just as rewarding as this glimpse into the structures and processes awaiting me as an upcoming project management intern were the countless opportunities to network and exchange.

I felt incredibly motivated and inspired by the overwhelming atmosphere of empowerment and spirit of commitment that – as usual- shaped the whole event hosted by the Scholarship Foundation.

To hear about other students’ backgrounds, career pathways, shared struggles, and future ambitions was a very valuable aspect of this experience to me and provided me with lots of food for thought for my own future planing.

Future Orientation

How lucky that the seminar was also rounded off by discussion panels and Q&A sessions about “How to find the right masters program?”, ” What opportunities do exist for studying abroad?”, and “How to manage the transition from university to the world of work smoothly?”, which helped a lot to bring some structure to the countless thoughts and ideas buzzing through my mind after these three days of collective future orientation.
