ITB 2022 CONVENTION.

From the 8th to the 10th of March 2022, I followed the ITB Convention by the Messe Berlin online from abroad to learn about the newest trends in the industry from experts firsthand and to extend my personal network with them.
With over 60,700 attendees from over 125 countries, the International Tourism Fair Berlin (ITB) is one of the most important B2B events in the tourism sector.
A plethora of over 223 speakers – from tourism professionals and big players in the travel industry, over emerging start-ups, representatives from the cross-cutting fields of technology and sustainability, to advocates of diversity and inclusion in business environments – shared their insights in over 102 sessions.
I attended as many of them as I could and received some very interesting insights.
One of my favorite talks centered around the question how the Metaverse could disrupt and revolutionize travel in its fundamentals from tourism products over customer service to business models and processes.
I have dealt with this question before in my university courses and found it amazing to experience how the vision of a fully immersive virtual world as a shared place to live, work, and do business that seemed unbelievable a few years ago is now so widely embraced as the future of our society and economy.
